Sector Three Consulting has been working closely with Cambridge City Council on a number of projects relating to supporting the third sector in Cambridge.
These have included overhauling the grants application process and materials for two of the City's major grant funding streams, with a view to making the process more straightforward for the City's charities and social enterprises.
We are also supporting the Council with the design and launch of a number of measures which will benefit organisations exploring the possibilities to trade as social enterprises.

Our Enterprising Communities in Cambridge event on 23rd May was a great success! Attended by delegates from over 35 third sector organisations funded by Cambridge City Council, the event focused on finding entrepreneurial solutions to contemporary challenges facing the sector.
Delegates heard presentations and attended workshops by:
- Councillor Tim Bick and Jackie Hanson, Cambridge City Council
- Local social entrepreneur, Andy Kent from Andy's Kars
- Dr Lynn Morgan, Third Sector representative on the new Local Enterprise Partnership
- Mike Brophy, Regional Director of Business in the Community
- Nigel Atkinson, BITC/Cambridge ProHelp
- Heidi Mulvey and Nicki Dawidowski, Cambridge University Press
- Sara Burgess, The Regulator of Community Interest Companies
- Michele Rigby, CEO of Social Enterprise East of England
The first BITC Seeing is Believing programme was launched at the event, which will enable business leaders in the region to visit local third sector organisations and explore opportunities for developing mutually beneficial partnerships with them. The first visit will be in July.
Also launched at the event was the Enterprising Communities Fund, to enable existing grantees of Cambridge City Council to explore opportunities for to explore different approaches to sustainable income generation, including trading goods and services.
We offer warm thanks to all of the presenters and Cambridge City Council for commissioning us to run the event, our partners Future Business for assistance with workshop planning and Arbury Community Centre for feeding everyone well and helping the event to run so smoothly.
